Competitive AA Team

Competitive teams are usually determined around the middle to end of March.  If there are enough players registered, there will be a tryout process starting around the middle of March.  Players that do not make the Competitive AA team are encouraged to play for a Community A team.

Depending on weather and indoor facility availability the season starts with 2 - 3 practices per week around the start to middle of April.  The Competitive AA league utilizes a 3 round seeding / tiering format with teams playing in a Regional format in May, a North / South Divisional format in June, and a Provincial Tiering format in July.   Each round of seeding / tiering historically involves 2 weekends per month (May, June, and July) with teams playing 2 - 4 games per weekend.

Practices and exhibition games take place during the week, with practices historically taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Teams may also decide to enter tournaments or play exhibition games on weekends that are not scheduled seeding / tiering weekends, but this is determined by each team and diamond availability.

For more information about the Competitive AA seeding / tiering weekends (calendar) and the league in general, please visit the following links located on the Baseball Alberta website:

Home games and practices take place at Michener Park which is located on the west end of Lacombe, just off of Highway 12.

Community A Team

Community teams are usually determined around the middle of April.  If there are enough players registered for more than 1 team to be formed, there will be skill evaluation dates set up in the middle of April to divide the players up and create equal teams.

Community teams play in the Central Alberta Baseball League (CABL).  Historically, teams practice/play games during the week on Mondays and Wednesdays.  At the Community A level, there are no league games scheduled on weekends, however, some teams do choose to enter tournaments.

Depending on weather and indoor facility availability the season usually consists of 2 practices per week around the middle to end of April.  The first few weeks in May usually consist of 1 game and 1 practice with a transition to having 2 games per week from the middle of May to the end of June.  Aside from the 2 games per week for most of the season, teams may decide to practice an additional day per week, but this is determined by each team and diamond availability.

Community A teams can choose to participate in a Provincial Tournament as well. Contact Baseball Alberta for more information.

Home games and practices take place at Michener Park which is located on the west end of Lacombe, just off of Highway 12.
